Welcome to Boatsetter Academy
A free, hands-on, on-water beginner's boating class dedicated to teaching new boaters about the basics of operating a boat.
What to expect
Through this 2-hour, hands-on, on-water experience, novice boaters will build confidence and become familiar with the basics of boating and what it's like to be on board a boat.
Participants will take the helm for the first time, with support and guidance from an experienced captain providing expert instruction on proper boating techniques and how to actually operate the vessel—putting into practice immediately what participants are learning.

How much does the course cost?
The course is absolutely free!
Do I need a boater's license?
No boater's license is required to take this course.
What happens if there's rain or inclement weather?
Your captain will make the call day of, if the weather is not conducive to boating you will receive a text from your captain.
I have to cancel, what do I do?
If you're canceling before the day of your course you can cancel via the confirmation email from Calendly that you received when you signed up for the course. If you're canceling the day of your course please send a text to your captain who's phone number should be on the student fact sheet that was emailed to you.
What are the requirements to take this course?
No prior experience is required! You must be at least 18 years of age and fill out a waiver.
Additionally, families with children ages 12 or older, with a parent or guardian present, can contact the Program Coordinator directly to inquire about participating.

At Boatsetter, our goal is to make boating more accessible and affordable for everyone, everywhere. We are building a community on the water, connecting boat owners, renters, and USCG-licensed captains who can share their boats and experiences, and in turn create memories that will last a lifetime.
With Boatsetter Academy, we hope to continue to strengthen our growing community of boaters, in addition to providing a safe space and opportunity for anyone interested to get out on the water for the first time, gain a new level of comfort onboard, and feel more confident in renting or operating their own boat in the future.
