Last Updated on June 25, 2024 by Boatsetter Team
Takes effect on July 26, 2024
Boatsetter’s goal is to be the preferred choice for discovering and planning great on-the-water experiences. In order to deliver the best boating experience yet, we’re revising the cancellation policy to enforce penalties on cancellations made within seven days of the booking’s Start Date. Cancellation penalties will take effect on July 26, 2024.
Make sure to review the key objectives of the cancellation policy and read all the way through for important information like how to avoid cancellation-related penalties.
Key objectives
- Making reliable plans is very important to Guests. By reducing cancellations close to the trip date, Guests will feel more secure in booking.
- Trip planning is crucial for a memorable boat day. By enforcing booking commitments, Owners will be able to plan ahead and better manage Guest relations.
- Being a Boatsetter Owner offers a rich experience, but it comes with a certain level of commitment. The latest cancellation policy updates promote responsible hosting.
How to navigate cancellation policy changes
The policy enforces penalties for cancellations made within seven days of the booking’s Start Date. It will take effect on July 26, 2024.
- Penalty enforcement. Owners who cancel a trip within seven days of the Start Date will incur a cancellation penalty of 20% of the boat’s price for that booking.
- Notification timeline. Sometimes canceling is the only option. We strongly encourage canceling one week before the Start Date of the booking. Pro Tip: Consider messaging the Guest to let them know about the change of plans personally. A personal message could go a long way, and may even save that lead.
- Extenuating circumstances. In the case of a genuine emergency, Owners are encouraged to contact Boatsetter Support immediately. Extenuating circumstance submission will be reviewed manually.
How to avoid cancellation penalties
Following the tips below will significantly reduce the risk of incurring cancellation-related penalties.
- Regular boat maintenance will avoid unexpected cancellations due to mechanical issues. Find helpful tips on Boat Maintenance on the Boatsetter Blog.
- Keep an open line of communication with Guests. If any conflicts in scheduling arise, address them early.
- Keeping up-to-date listings. If your boat becomes unavailable, update your listing immediately to prevent future bookings that you may need to cancel.
