A Guide to Lake Lewisville & Party Cove (Texas)
Last Updated on July 12, 2024 by Boatsetter Team
Lewisville Lake, situated north of Fort Worth and Dallas, is a hot spot for boaters and party-goers alike. This 29,000-acre lake offers 223 miles of curving and winding shorelines and coves. It has an average depth of 25 feet, and the deepest location near the dam hovers around 67 feet deep.
The lake is also surrounded by pleasant picnic areas, campsites, beaches, trails for hiking and biking, open prairies, wetlands, dense forests, golf courses, docks, a pioneer homestead from the 1870s, and many urban fishing areas. You’ll find alligator gar, white, largemouth, and spotted bass, blue and channel catfish, and several sunfish; it is dubbed the official “Urban Bass Fishing Capital of Texas.”
Don’t let the “urban” fool you. Lewisville has several protected wildlife areas that make up about 9,000 acres. In these wildlife areas, you’ll find mink, bobtails, turtles, white-tailed deer, wood ducks, wading birds, turkeys, buntings, songbirds, dozens of native wild plant species, and so much more.
