Veterans Day Giveaway: Win a Captain’s License Course Scholarship from Boatsetter & Mariners Learning System
Since 2012, Boatsetter has made it possible for boat owners, boat rental operators, and Captains to earn an additional income and spend time doing what they love–being out on the water. This Veteran’s Day, we’re proud to empower veterans and active duty military to pursue on-the-water entrepreneurship. In partnership with Mariners Learning System, we’re giving away three scholarships to cover the joint cost of an approved United States Coast Guard (USCG) Captain’s license course and exam.
“The skills honed in the armed forces—discipline, leadership, safety, and more—align with the responsibilities of being a charter Captain,” says Tyler Madden, Director of the Boatsetter Captains Team. “My father is a Navy Veteran, and I grew up in a community surrounded by active duty service members and veterans. The maritime industry presents a wealth of opportunities for professional growth, and for many careers in the industry, the first step is obtaining a USCG Captain’s License.”
Over 3,000 veterans are already captaining Boatsetter trips or leading fishing trips on the platform. Richard, a retired Navy veteran and passionate angler takes guests fishing on his 18 ft Lowe Boat in Virginia Beach, Virginia. “Having served the American people for 23 years as a Navy Diver, time on the water has always been constant. Fishing is a powerful opportunity for reflection and processing, and learning how much a day on the water can do for a person’s well being has been one of the greatest lessons.”
