The policy was written from the ground up as a stand-alone recreational boat rental insurance policy covering the period of time that the boat is being rented and is available for all non-commercially insured boats. Each Boatsetter rental covered under the Peer-to-Peer Boat Rental Policy through GEICO Marine, comes with significant liability coverage: $300,000 per person and $1,000,000 total liability per accident. Bookings in Florida insured under the Peer-to-Peer Boat Rental Policy through GEICO have additional coverages, which are $500,000 per person and $1,000,000 total liability per accident.SummaryThe following insurance information pertains to boats listed by individuals, which are covered under the Peer-to-Peer Boat Rental Policy.

To get started on a quote, click here.View all Insurance FAQ EligibilityIn order for your boat to be eligible for coverage under the Peer-to-Peer Boat Rental Policy through GEICO Marine, it must meet all of the following requirements:
Has not been modified in any way that is not endorsed or approved by the manufacturer
Maintains current insurance, registration, and any federally required licensing or other documentation
Must not be owned by a charter company or commercial operation that charters boats
In addition, the following boats will require additional documentation in order to be underwritten at the discretion of GEICO Marine:
Boats older than 25 years
Boats exceeding $250,000 in value
Boats exceeding 40 feet in length
Wooden boats
Pontoon boats, houseboats, multihull sailboats, and custom built boats
Engine types other than outboard, inboard/outboard (sterndrive), or inboard
Boats capable of speeds in excess of 50 mph or with more than 2 outboard engines
Excluded vessels:
Jet skis and Personal Watercraft
Boats with Carbon Fiber or Composite hulls or masts
Ferro cement boats
Homebuilt boats
If the Boat Owner acts as Captain or provides a Captain for the Rental:
The designated Captain must have all necessary and required licenses, permits and certificates to operate the boat and these must be in full force and effect during the rental
The boat must meet all federal, state, and local requirements that might apply
No more than 6 passengers are permitted
View all Underwriting FAQCaptainsBoatsetter will be adding a feature for renters to select licensed captains to command the vessels. Licensed captains will also be included under the policy for liability coverage. Additionally captained rentals are permitted to go from Florida to the Bahamas and the Channel Islands in California. For more information on captain coverage, please review the section labeled ADDITIONAL COVERAGES FOR CAPTAINED RENTALS in the policy.ClaimsWe do our best to provide you with the tools and resources to make your rental a safe experience, but we understand that sometimes accidents happen. To help us expedite a resolution, be sure to complete and keep the pre- and post-rental inspection documents for each rental and be prepared to submit them to the insurance company. Please send to contact@boatsetter.com when complete.Security DepositsBoatsetter includes a security deposit in every Listing ("Security Deposits"). For all Security Deposits included in a Listing for a confirmed booking of a Boat, Boatsetter will, in its capacity as the payment agent of the Owner, use its commercially reasonable efforts to obtain a pre-authorization of the Renter's credit card in the amount of either $500 or $1000 for the Security Deposit within a reasonable time prior to the Renter's check-in at the applicable Owner's Boat. Boatsetter will also use its commercially reasonable efforts to address Owners' requests and claims related to Security Deposits, but Boatsetter is not responsible for administering or accepting any claims by Owners related to Security Deposits, and disclaims any and all liability in this regard.If an Owner does not respond to the questions related to a Security Deposit capture within 7 days of the rental date, the damages will be considered resolved. As a result, the Renter's Security Deposit will be refunded and the Owner will no longer have any rights to the funds.Renters are always responsible for having a card on file with sufficient funds available to cover the Security Deposit and any applicable deductible. Boatsetter reserves the right to cancel the booking if the Security Deposit was not captured within 24 hours of the rental. Towing Services

BoatU.S. On-Water Towing Service AgreementLast Updated: September 7, 2014This Agreement is applicable throughout United States, Canada, Bahamas and reimbursement worldwide. BoatU.S. On-water towing provides a range of benefits and paid services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.Key Terms“ Towing Company" is defined as a business who operates an on-water towing assistance service for recreational boaters and who has a license agreement with BoatU.S. BoatU.S. Towing companies are independent businesses who use the BoatU.S. trademarked names of TowBoatU.S. or VESSEL ASSIST when providing services.“ Towing Service" is the set of services that BoatU.S. provides to recreational boaters. Service for Renters is subject to the terms of the Towing Service Agreement pertaining to the Unlimited Service Level listed below. These services include towing a disabled boat from a point of breakdown at sea or soft grounding to a repair facility, marina or boat ramp and providing fuel delivery, battery jumpstarts and soft ungroundings.“ Rental" Is defined as the time a Renter gains physical possession of the rented motorized recreational boat through Boatsetter's peer to peer boat rental service until the time the Renter gives possession of the boat back to the owner as stipulated in the rental agreement.“ Renter" is defined as a person who rents a motorized recreational boat through Boatsetter's peer to peer boat rental service.“ Unlimited Service Level" is the level of service that all Boatsetter rented boats qualify.“ Towing Service Area" Is defined as the area that each BoatU.S. on-water tower services. Each BoatU.S. Towing Company has a minimum 25 mile offshore service area. In Northern California and the Pacific Northwest, BoatU.S. Towing Companies have a minimum 30 mile offshore service area. In Southern California, BoatU.S. Towing Companies have a minimum 40 mile offshore service area.Please Note: The Boatsetter Insurance policy limits boating to within 12 mile offshore area.Paid Services Included
Payment for towing the Renter's disabled boat from the point of breakdown at sea to port of choice
At sea battery jump starts
Delivery of fuel, engine fluids and basic engine parts to avoid a tow, subject to availability
Soft ungrounding assistance
Towing the disabled boat immediately after breakdown from a restricted use dock to the Renter's home dock or repair facility. A restricted use dock is one from which the Renter must move immediately, i.e. fuel or restaurant docks and docks without overnight facilities.
Paid Service includes payment of the cost to tow Renter's boat from any dock or mooring to the Renters port of choice not to exceed a total towing distance of 25 miles. The Boatsetter Unlimited Policy includes payment up to 50% of the cost to tow the Renter's disabled boat from an unrestricted use dock or mooring, i.e. home docks or marinas, for the purpose of repairs. Paid Services apply to any recreational boat owned, borrowed or chartered by the Renter and includes 24 hour towing dispatch service.Paid Service AvailabilityServices are available when using BoatU.S. Licensed Towing Companies (TowBoatU.S.® and Vessel Assist®) up to the unlimited service level for Boatsetter insured vessels. Paid Services are provided for when the boat is disabled and towed within an unlimited service area. Extended unlimited service level areas, 30 miles or more offshore, are available in many locations and can be found online at BoatUS.com/towing or by calling the BoatU.S. Towing Department at 1-800-888-4869.Restrictions and ExclusionsPaid Services apply per incident. An incident is an event or series of events arising from the same breakdown. Renter is responsible to pay expenses incurred in excess of service level active at the time of breakdown or soft grounding.For non emergency assistance when a BoatU.S. Licensed Towing Company is not available, Renter must contact 24 hour dispatch via VHF relay or 800-391-4869 prior to accepting assistance from another towing company. Upon authorization, Renter is eligible for paid services up to $125 per hour from breakdown location to the nearest repair facility and soft ungrounding up to $10 per foot of boat length, up to Renter's Service Level ($2,500 for the Boatsetter unlimited service level). If towing service is not available, BoatU.S. will contact a government agency. To receive reimbursement consideration, invoice must be submitted within 90 days.In an emergency situation, Renter must contact the Coast Guard or a government agency immediately. This Towing Service Agreement is not a promise of rescue and is restricted to paid services which can be provided with equipment immediately available to the towing company. Paid services will be provided during normal boating season and within the safe parameters of the towing company capabilities, but will not be rendered when the disabled vessel cannot be safely or reasonably reached or secured and/or properly serviced without damage or danger to either vessel or persons. This Towing Service Agreement is not an insurance policy and does not provide for liability or damages arising out of injury to persons, boats or property and may not be transferred or assigned to another party.This Towing Service Agreement becomes effective at the start of the paid rental period upon the beginning of the rental, as defined herein, and does not apply to: pre-existing conditions, including but not restricted to, towing after disabled vessel is pushed away from dock or mooring; battery jump starts, dive service, and fuel delivery at a dock; towing from a repair or storage facility, for seasonal haul out or routine maintenance, or for storm preparation; salvage, including but not restricted to hard groundings, or assistance requiring more than one vessel, pumps, divers, airbags or other special equipment; the cost of fuel or supplies; charges for escort, navigation assistance, search for lost vessels, retrieving anchors or other equipment; charges to repair, haul, launch, commission, decommission, moor, dock or other marina charges; U.S. or Foreign Customs Fees; when Renter is a guest or paid captain on any boat; any boat used for commercial purposes; paid services being paid for by another company.The Renter is required to use care and diligence in the operation and maintenance of the boat. BoatU.S. may, at its sole discretion, withdraw an individual Renter's service level for abuses, including excessive use.Boater EducationFree BoatUS Safety CourseBoatUS is a leading provider of safe boater education and certification across the United States and Canada. Through our partnership, we encourage all renters to take an online boat safety course and exam. In states where education is mandatory, boaters can obtain their official boater education card or boating license online in as little as a few hours.As an owner, you have the right to chose who rents your boat.
